The basemaps are pretty useless. I bought my Etrex Vista HCX a week ago, so I am still figuring all the little details out.. The person I spoke to at REI was very helpful with the extra maps...

The topo maps also comes with all the detailed street maps for entire usa.. This is what I bought because I wanted to have trail maps for MTB rides and street maps for road riding / touring..

The city navigator NT has a ridiculous amount of POI and will even give you all the starbucks in the usa.. This was detail I felt I did not need..

I also went with the 2gb card to save all my rides. I have been using duracell nimh and have been getting good runtimes, better than my garmin 305..

what I find strange is that it does track a bit north of my location, about 50-100 feet off, but when I upload the gpx file to motionbased, the gps tracks spot on based on there maps..

Thanks for all the links above..
