A co worker of mine was set to enter med school in september but decided he should fix his mitral valve prolapse before med school. He also had Atrial fibrillation, and was on meds for that which included a blood thinner. Trouble is, if you are on blood thinners they have to be stopped for surgery.

He never awoke the same person because the blood thinners were started too late. He had suffered a stroke and now can barely talk or walk.
