Hi - I'd like some advice/opinions on a purchase decision. I'm looking at getting a fixed to get around town (short trips, <5-10mi). I don't want to spend much $$, and am considering a new '06 Fuji track (some slight damage to the bar tape & saddle) at the LBS for $350 + tax vs the Motobecane messenger ($350)
The messenger would be slightly cheaper, and includes 2 brakes and a freewheel. The Fuji has somewhat better components (I believe - please correct me if wrong). The messenger brakes are also road caliper style, which I prefer. The shop put a cheap front cross-style brake (Tektro) on the Fuji, which isn't as convenient since I'd usually be riding with my hands in the hood position or drops.
Links to the specs are below
Any thoughts or opinions?
THanks,
Tom P
