For the amount of time it would take you to wrap and unwrap your shoes every time, including sorting out holes for cleats an some ventilation, on top of time spent purchasing Saran wrap and explaining to everyone why you've mummified your feet, you could have done several hours of work and earned more than enough to pay for a pair of normal overshoes.
Well, I would still have to put on and take off regular TT overshoes anyways so that is no time waster.
In a TT, you wouldn't need holes for ventilation since the ride is so short.
I could go to MegaLoMart once and buy a 100 km roll of Saran wrap and that would last me for untold ages. It would save time compared to buying the regular overshoes since I always have replacements and I don't have to buy new ones when they tear.
Other riders may laugh at first, until you beat them on $500 of bikes and clothing. You would also gain respect from the other racers by handing out Saran wrap overshoes at the race warm up. Did that Cat. 1 sell his overshoes to get enough gas to come to the race? Why, you can give him enough from your stash to cover 10 feet!!!
