I tell you though, two things make big rides like this so much easier (and a lot less stressful):
• Driving the SAG car instead of riding. As a ride organizer, I feel naturally protective of the riders. Being on a bike makes me feel powerless since I don't know what's going on at the front or back of the pack. Being in a SAG car gave me peace of mind knowing where everyone was on the route, and that they're all OK.
• Getting help from skilled riders who I know I can count on. I couldn't have done this without Cassave, thomson, Speedee and Herb.
P.S. I hope the newcomers realize that BF rides rarely have SAG or sweepers. Don't get used to it – learn to be self sufficient!
Joy,
You are to be commended for taking on such a huge task as this. It was a great first time organizing this ride, and you pulled it off like you have done this for years. Couldn't ask for more perfect weather. The ride was terrific, and the company, as always, was terrific. For those that missed this, you missed one of the best BF rides ever.
Look forward to seeing more of these. Plus, it does bring the BF community together.
