Bad Biking? Get it off your chest!

Do you live in a city or township that is not so great for commuting by bike? Maybe your particular route to work is not the greatest of fun? Let's hear about it, and maybe a little about how you adapt your riding style to suit those bad stretches of asphalt, broken surfaces, traffic, narrow lanes, bad intersections, etc.

I live in New Orleans, LA USA. Lots of commuting challenges here. I will chime in as this string progresses with challenges specific to my town. But first, what gave me the idea for this string is a YouTube piece on Tulsa, Oklahoma and the bad biking there. Anyone from Tulsa like to chime in??? Is it true?

Lets keep this discussion away from weather events - that seems to be covered in the "How was the commute today?" thread. Stick to infrastructure, planning (or lack of planning), missed opportunities by city fathers, cultural considerations, poor road design, impossible road crossings, or anything that forces you to break the law, or consider breaking the law to stay alive. How about traffic features put in place for cyclists that just make life for you worse instead of better while commuting?

I hope to get some responses from outside the USofA too. Let 'er rip!
