Stick with real glue.... it doesn't take long to do one right. Plus, the tape adds rolling resistance. If you want a quick and easy way to glue your tires on, you can also use 3M Fast Tac. I have used it in the past on road wheelsets with no problems at all. You can glue a tire on in about 5 minutes, start to finish. It bonds strong enough that it usually destroys the tire if you ever need to pull it off the rim.

These days I just glue everything with Mastik. I started using it for cyclocross and actually enjoy going through the process of gluing on tires. But, if in a real pinch for time... I pull out the Fasttac.
