Tubulars are already behind the best clinchers as far as RR goes to begin with... why make it worse by using inferior/half @ssed gluing techniques?
The Op asked which would be easier as this are his first set of tubular rims.
I know it is true I posted it earlier yesterday, however this is so miniscule that is makes no sense to choose glue over tape. I agree if glue was simpler I would use it how ever it requires a process that can be avoided with the tape. as well as tools ( brushes) and often times for a person whom has never used it will not deter them. I know many people that have failed miserably gluing and returned to clinchers because of the process (not rolling resistance) . I have friends that have returned to tubular now that the extreme tape is available. It's easy to say, " oh it's easy, takes just five minutes" but if you remember the first time you changed a flat even on a clincher, it can be very difficult the first time. And in the case of the glue, regarding alignment and placing the tires on for a noobie it can be tough.
I don't recommend the tape because it is simply better.. which can be argued for days. But simply for a noobie to tubular set up it is better and easier and will not deter them from using tubular. many are often put off by the gluing process. gets messy etc.. and if you have no workshop at home and are trying to do it in your kitchen it can get wild. If you have been using glue for 10+ yrs then I'm sure it is no big deal and easy to say , sure glue it. but if you have a brand new 404 tubular and are staring at this and applying glue and getting it everywhere. it will humble you. the glue is just as difficult to remove if not more. and if you keep re-layering it as suggested then this so-called issue of rolling resistance become negligible as the glue would be applied thicker.
here is a video how to apply the tape.
