With a proper pair of cycling shorts and a good position on your bike, you really shouldn't need any padding on a saddle. Padding in the wrong places can actually put more weigh on places you DON'T want bearing weight, causing numbness.

This saddle is basically like a Selle Italia SLR (gel flow? the cutout version) with the padding removed. I've seen a couple of guys without the padding on their SLRs, and they like it better than the original. Flexible enough to be comfortable, and doesn't have any useless padding.
