So I picked up and was fitted for my '08 Specialized Elite last night. This is my first real road bike, after putting in 2 or 3 thousand miles on a Trek 7.3 FX I was ready to move onto something that would at least let me keep pace with the big guys.

The fitting went pretty well, except that he had to replace my carbon seat post with an aluminum one because there were no zero-offset carbon posts available from Specialized and my tiny, tyrranosaurus rex arms and strangely tiny legs (where is all my height? That's a serious question. I'm 5'10.5" with a 30-31ish inseam. Anyway, while I was bummed about not having a carbon seatpost at least until mid-february when Specialized will have one in, I know that having a proper fit and a bike I'll actually ride makes more sense. He has had to adjust the seat as far forward as possible even with the Thomson aluminum seatpost (which he says is a nice seatpost - I hadn't done the research.)
Other than my suicide ride home last night (dark, wet roads, my first time on full-slicks, only my CygoDualcross 300 light to get me home) I haven't been able to ride it outdoors yet. I put in an hour of hard riding on it on my trainer this morning and the fit feels great; my lower back feels good and my knees are sore, but in a good-burn sort of way. I can tell this bike is going to work some muscles differently than my more relaxed, non-roadbike I had been riding.
All in all, I am very excited. I feel like this bike will really push me. Also, it's so fast =P *drool* The image attached is exactly the bike I have, except for the aforementioned seatpost.
