You have a $50 entry fee (there's a $10 off coupon right now - LSC2008 - to get it down to $40). Then you raise $250 minimum. Best way I think is through email request for donations. People can donate to your personal page that you get after registering.
I've raised around $2K the past 2 years and the goodies you get are pretty nice. 1st year was a livestrong backpack... last year was a large livestrong duffle bag, which I've used many times since getting it. Of course T-shirt & water bottle just for meeting the minimum.
