Sounds like you've already tried a shop for take-offs, but it might be worth looking somewhere else. Our local REI has at least 20 in a big cardboard box for five bucks each, and I happened to run into a friend who runs another local shop at lunch today. He says he always has a dozen or more around and would give them away to a good cause--he'll never sell them and he's tired of tripping over them.
