At 275 I would look at a rigid fork bike in this range. The suspension fork will only be a cheap one at best and will struggle to take your weight. Disc brakes are fine and a cheap hydraulic one will only be as good as a good cable operated one so take your choice.There is nothing wrtong with a good set of V.Brakes- or bad sets for that matter.(And they are cheaper)

Won't say these bikes are no good as I haven't ridden them but for the money- I would look at the Specialised Sirrus range. Now that is a Hybrid bike that does work and many have been surprised at how good it is.
