You might be able to un sieze the freehub pawls. If you do decide to rinse it with WD40 be sure to get some grease in there afterwards. WD40 in NOT a lubricant.
The WD-40 flush should remove any gunk, water and hardened lube but, as noted it's not an effective lubricant itself.
However, don't try to inject grease into the cleaned freehub body as it too can cause the pawls to stick in cold weather. Use a light oil such as Tri-Flow.
