It's not that big of a deal IF you have a lot of time on your hands. Years ago, I prided myself on fixing any flat tubular. You can strip the tread from an old one and use a section to boot the casing. We used circular pieces of the yellow inner tubes as patches with patch cement. Contact cement could put any of it all back together. Sewing was a pain, better get a thimble.

Tubulars ride great, especially silks. But they seem incredibly expensive to me these days. I don't ride that fast, and I don't ride that far. So clinchers for me.

Though I do have a number of bikes that tubulars are appropriate for. Any affordable brands for light use?
