I plan to look at them today and plan to purchase one of them today. Both appear to be 3 to 5 speed bikes. My commute is rough 6-10 mile round trip, just little rollers for hills, so nothing to hard.

What's a Trek 50? It the bottom basement, little commuter/comfort/entry level from Trek. It works for me for now until I get a little more experience in riding and bike finds!
