Just curious..

What if I walked into the shop to buy a bike and took a test ride. Afterward, without haggling, asked them to ring up the bike at the price on the tag, but I wanted to switch out the stem for a shorter one of the same model. Assuming the stem isn't an odd size or overly expensive to begin with, is that too much to ask?
