In my experience truck drivers are the most professional, and I am *much* more comfortable driving next to a semi than a large SUV piloted by a clueless suburbanite. The truck driver knows how to handle his vehicle, otherwise he would be out of a job. There is no guarantee with the other idiots on the road.
Hopefully the guy will get a good talking-to about being nice to cyclists.
I used to drive truck, and have to add that this is not true of all truck drivers! There are some really scary, road rage ready, tired, and just plain poor drivers behind the wheels of those trucks. I treat all drivers the same: keep a leary, watchful eye on all of them.
On a different note, I had a truck pass me on my way home last night around 10:15 pm. They moved over a lane for me while going across a bridge. I am not sure why, but a cop pulled him over after the bridge. I think the bridge is marked "trucks use right lane". I hope I am not the reason they were pulled over
