i know it was a pretty broad question, but you guys were actually a really great help.

I love anything on two wheels. I've ridden a litespeed wedgie, and a vision r40 lwb recumbent for the past 8 years or so. Completely different bikes, but I loaded both of them up and used them for touring. I started to really gravitate towards the recumbent in the last few years because its so much more comfortable for the long haul. In the past 6-8 months I've been working out have lost a signitificant amount of weight (83 pounds as of today) and I find that without the big gut in the way I really enjoy tooling around on uprights.

So..two weeks ago I found a early 70's Raleigh Grand Prix that I threw some tires and tubes on, did some small adjustments, and I've been riding it around. I only paid $40 for the bike and I absolutely love it.

I'm going to set it up to commute to work on when it gets a little warmer. Ever since then, two weeks ago, I've been looking around on trash day for other finds.

So basically, I like functional bikes that perform well. I like to commute, be comfrtable, and sometimes go fast. When I was a teenager I used to ride to work every weekend on my dad ols english three speed. I'd love to find another one like it and fix it up and give it to him.

I also have a hard time keeping things stock. I'm a tinkerer.

But as I mentioned I'm just trying to get myself an education on bikes so I have an idea what I'm doing.

gotta run, thanks again for all the help.
