I do have a multitool, and the basic flat repair kit.

That said, I've made a start. A friend, a poster here on Bike Forums, gave me a tool chest. I purchased a set of metric Allen wrenches this weekend on his advice. What else do I need to have to keep my commuter bike (Trek 7.5 fx) in shape for my 30 mile round trip commute? What else should I fill my tool chest with?
Anything that is contained in the Park Tool site

Seriously...allen wrenches, metric box end wrenches, screw drivers, pedal wrenches and then add to the list as you find out what you need. I have tools running back over 30 years that are no longer being made (good thing seeing how I have vintage bikes) Sounds like you need to belong to the tool of the month club

Also the Park Tools site has a section that will walk you thru the basic repairs and suggest which tools will make the job easier.
