I love* having generator lights. No batteries to worry about, and you don't have to worry about getting home by dark. You can go for cool, summer night rides.
The actual hub generator light I have on my atlantis draws a lot of attention from people. To be honest, I don't really know how it works! But it's clean looking and bright, and it weighs a ton.
I am going to hazard a guess and say the one on the Atlantis is a Shimano. I have one of those on my Staiger grocery getter and it is a great unit, no worries just turn the light on when it starts getting dark.
My Raleigh Superbe has the granddaddy of those units the Dynohub. It puts out power, but the light technology on those bikes is a bit weak.
I just went and checked my Giant again...I was wrong, it is a Union BB generator. Got to thinking why would Sanyo use Union lights. Here are a couple of pictures of the lever and the generator. Mine actually mounts to a plate that is attached to the kickstand bracket area.
