Y'know, I just came back from a 25 mile ride, first on this bike - wasn't looking at stuff under real conditions. It will shift into the biggest cog and stay there kinda sorta, so I just have to adjust the cables. And the freehub is just shot I think - it feels a bit sticky and definitely sounds like it wants to be oiled.
So the next question for you is: freehub on fancy wheels needs replacing, is that something you just suck up if you otherwise want (hee hee, maybe more like need) the bike? Or maybe take it up with the seller?

You bought it used , so you can`t expect everything to be like new . I would suck it up and replace it myself.
