Very true. I built a set of Aerohead rims on Record hubs with Revolution spokes (24 2x front, 28 2x rear) and they came in just under 1500g. I could have easily saved 100g by getting lighter hubs and radially lacing the front, and even more by getting some lightweight tubular rims.

btw there are some Sun M19aII rims on ebay right now. Those suckers usually weigh in at 350g. Too bad they're in 32 hole but still.
