Every class I've ever been in, everyone was expected to do what the class was doing to the very best of their ability. If anyone had ever felt the need to explain why this shouldn't be asked of them, they would have been invited to leave the mat. These were martial arts classes, not excuse-making classes.
That's, um, what I did. It didn't stop the fact that those making the attempt were invariably female.
