I have a 60-mile, multimodal commute:
Previous night: Prep two kids' lunches and my lunch, iron a shirt and pants for work, make sure my bag is packed.
5:00 a.m.: Wake up, into shower;
5:10 a.m.: Out of shower, get dressed;
5:15 a.m.: Make coffee, drink coffee, eat breakfast, check weather conditions in Hartford and Bridgeport;
5:40 a.m.: Shoes, coat, gloves, hat, helmet;
5:45 a.m.: Out the door, five-mile ride to train station;
6:20 a.m.: Arrive at train station, get folding bike folded and ready;
6:26 a.m.: Board Amtrak train to New Haven;
7:28 a.m.: Arrive at New Haven, purchase medium coffee from Dunkin Donuts, drink it on the platform by Track 8;
7:44 a.m.: Board Shore Line East Train to Stamford;
7:55 a.m.: Unfold bike on train;
8:04 a.m.: Get off at Bridgeport, ride three miles to work
8:20 a.m.: At work!
I either take the 4:31, which gets me to Hartford at 6:05, or the 12:27, whivh gets me to Hartford at 2:10, at which time I ride to my Hartford office and work till 5:00.
