Once you get over the hump of a couple of back-to-back days on the trainer, it becomes less bad. Lately, I've been on the trainer nearly every day, as the weather's been too crappy here for serious training on the road. At first, using the trainer sucked, but now I don't even mind it. I listen to old punk rawk from my high-school days, watch some videos of Paris-Roubaix, and work myself up into a lather. I spend anywhere from 1 1/4 to 3 hours on the trainer a day, if I don't get a chance to go outside, so I think my attention span's been extended considerably.

Now, mind you, I'm on my geared bike doing specific workouts when I'm on the trainer. Unless I'm doing a recovery spin and watching Jerry Springer, I've got an agenda on the bike.

One thing I've found that makes doing trainer work hard, is just getting up on it with no set plan, other than spinning for an hour. You do that and you're gonna get bored and want to kill yourself in seconds. Make up a workout or find one somewhere – hell, just do 10 minute long hard efforts with recovery periods in-between, add some good tunes, and you'll find trainer workouts a bit less boring.
