I don't see your point that it is too much trouble (it is all relative anyway). What I imagined was that I will use my dremel tool to sand off the black paint (or use paint stripper), and use some polishing or fine sanding attachement to finish the job. I did not think about clear anodizing (how important is it anyway). Besides why do you think it destoys the hub? There is no mechanical stress or machining involved.

I would like to hear from someone who has polished aluminum before, or who know all the details. I don't really care about openions and dubious statements.
