Wrong...fenders offer a lot of protection to your bike too. Especially the bottom bracket, headset, and brakes.
I don't really see what's wrong about my statement, it was mostly my opinion. And that was that you get wet from rain fenders or not, rain falls from the sky. As for protecting your bike, I can see that but rain is mostly just water, if you clean your bike regularly this shouldn't be an issue.
