I just switched out the CB pedals on my road bike to SPD-SL & moved the CB's to my ss commuter. Works great. I use mountain shoes on the commuter and they're perfect for stop/start traffic. Many of the CB pedals that have any kind of platform come with a snap on plastic platform for riding in street shoes. I've never used them, but it seems like a decent feature.
