When in Rome I do as Romans do. Any errors in L337, IM or any other argot gets one tagged as a n00b with even more scorn and ridicule heaped on the poor hapless B1FF than any of the irregular attempts at english written here. YMMV
I will confess that I largely managed to step aside and let the IM wave pass me by. I suppose if I had a vocabulary of only a hundred words and considered repeating the same 60 - 65 phrases over and over to be equivalent to intelligent conversation, I would be more interested. I just hit speed dial and tell the other person what I want to say.
