evOlution - I seem to remember reading a thread around here that stated that it's pretty common for shops to charge MSRP for new bikes. I think it had something to do with shops not making a whole lot of money on the sale of bikes or something like that. Someone more knowledgeable than me will have more info on the subject though.

Bil - There are potholes aplenty on my short commute and I often cannot safely steer clear of them. So, I decided to go with something that has 26" tires. Namely a Gary Fisher Cronus instead of a Trek SU. Thanks to everyone for all the great info!
