Are the threads standardised, so that I can get any old spindle of the correct length, and keep the Campag cones and locknuts? Or do I need a special "Campag compatible" one?

Thanks in advance, Tony S
Take it to a shop, there's a few sizes and they'll figure it out for you. They'll have a little board with all the different threading types and they'll even sell you an axle without the hub around it. Also, bring in your bike if you don't know the spacing and the length you need. I think you want 7.5mm per side so 141mm? Don't quote that.
