I mean, America has this orange plastic stuff they laughingly call "cheese", and we wont even mention the wine and beer ... oatmeal could, in fact, bear little resemblence to true porridge.

By the way ... the pictures of "porridge" and "oatmeal" on wikipedia look disgusting ... If I served up that to my kids on a cold winter morning there would be a riot ... porridge should never be broken up into lumpy chunks like the picture of porridge and (heaven forbid) stirred into the milk like on the picture of oatmeal ... the milk should caress the edges of a single porridge mass (just enough so a light film of milk covers the porridge) and a generous sprinkle of sugar should be clearly evident ... I'll bet they didnt even add salt and butter while they were making it !!
Mate, leave that disgusting looking "porridge" and "oatmeal" to the seppos and poms, stop being unAustralian, and get stuck into the Weet Bix. Fair dinkum, what's wrong with ya?

I knock it back 8 bricks a serving, with a generous handfull of sultanas and 600ml of full cream milk.... perfect for my 50km commute
