I have a couple of dogs that I take with me on rides that are around 12 miles. They seem to enjoy the run and are familiar enough with the route that if I get ahead of them they know where to go. The other day, I took a different turn and thought that I lost them. When I got back to my truck, they were sitting in the back waiting for me. You have to plan to make sure they can get water or teach them to sit and drink from your Camelback when you squeeze it open. I really enjoy taking them with me and it keeps them in good shape too.
