For twenty years I used a short thermarest with good results.

Recently I tried the Big Agnes Insulated Core pad and loved the comfort but had three fail in short order, not from punctures, but from some internal separation.

I have returned to a Thermarest, the Pro 3 short which is more comfortable than my original one and a few ounces lighter.
