Well, family members can use your trainer if they put their bikes on it! If they don't have bikes, they probably wouldn't use the stationary bike?

Traners are nice - I have a Cyclops 2 (around $250 or so) and just bought a computrainer ($1100) ...

Lemond makes a decent stationary I think - called RevMaster. Not a bad way to go either.
