My 11-28 is great for recreational rides. The 28 gets me up Angeles Crest or Big Tujunga without hurting my knees, and I do use the 11 on the straighter sections coming back down. The 11 is especially useful on my commute, which goes down La Tuna at about 43 mph... I guess I should mention by now that I'm on a compact crank so my 50/11 is more like a 53/12, but it shows a use for such a cassette.
that's where i do all my climbing. we gotta get together sometime. i'm gonna put an 11 on my 12-27 and see if i can stand the loss
