I agree, scanning multiple forums is what works for me... Over 50, vintage rider, does some organized road rides, hoping for long distance, mega-clydesdale with an eye toward commuting, and maybe some mountain biking again some day, who loves touring bikes and might some day actually do a tour. who should be training instead of gaining even more weight, and does most of his own wrenching. And likes the atmosphere in Foo.
I scan through about 6 or 7 forums on the average day... and if the site is down, I go over to cyclingforums, which is a poor substitute... but I go over there sometimes even when this site is up.
And I sometimes wonder what goes on in the Women's forum too.
