I never have really understood the Gender bias with bicycles anyway. In the neighborhood I grew up in we never made fun of anyone’s bike, regardless of gender bike crossover, because we were poor enough we were just happy to have a bike to ride.
I actually found myself enjoying riding a step through frame last year, they are very utilitarian frames. Especially if one does a lot of start and stop riding, saved the boys a bump many times,

(hence the old city bike design), or if you have the rack loaded with a cooler, or saddle bags, it is much easier to mount and dismount. They seem to be fairly rigid frames, mine is aluminum, and I never noticed any extra flex from it.
