They had a heavy duty bike there when I went. Not a Schwinn, but a bike with welding rod spokes. Not sure what they'd ask for the Le Tour, or if it's even still there, but I could check? The way they price things it's more than likely still there.
that sounds pretty cool. If you happen over that way again I'd be interested in more specifics on it, although it sounds like his pricing, along with shipping from texas to philly might be a bit prohibitive...
and Bionicycle, thanks for the ideas and the link to the fuji. I'm sure the SO would love that bike as whenever I take her to look at bikes she's always picking out cruisers and things that look very heavy to me. She also has seen a few bikes like the one you linked and thought they were pretty cool.
I was just hoping to get her something that fit her well, fit her requirements, but was also on the lighter side so she could have it a little easier up hills.
