Definite agreement here, but the REAL money is made by actually building up a finished fixie and selling it ready to ride.. These guys will absolutely shove money in your hand, don't bother with test rides, don't even worry if the frame is their size. They just gotta have that fixie, and I mean NOW, man!

Out here in Southern California the fixie craze is going full tilt. One local newspaper just did a full page article on a fellow who is selling them as fast as he can make them. He gets flagged all the time on CL. I believe his prices are in the $300 range, if not more. He must be making money.
