There's some great riding in the Dordogne, and the fact that it's the home of some of the best rural French cuisine doesn't hurt matters. I've ridden around there based primarily out of Sarlat, but the whole area from Gourdon to Grolejac and along the Dordogne river valley to Le Buisson-Cadouin is beautiful. The Vezere valley is quite nice as well, filled with Paleolithic painted caves, and there's a fantastic bicycle museum in Cadouin (hundreds of bikes from the 1870s onward).
