I have one. Commuted on it 18 miles each way for about six months as New Orleans was recovering from Hurricane Katrina when roads were beaten up by heavy equipment and flat tires/broken wheels were a huge issue esp riding at night. So I used the Pugs all winter.
I also use it to play in sand at the beach and a few other spots around S. Louisiana. I have ridden off road single track with some more experienced buds and did fine too.
My setup new would cost around $2500. Tried to sell it on Ebay all winter (I moved back to flooded/remodeled house last Sept and have an easier commute) without success for $1500.
The major drawback (for me) riding that thing around town is the attention. I absolutely HATE talking to every stranger on the street about those freakin' tires. And in New Orleans, the odds of having some hoodlum knock my brains out to get such a thing is pretty high. I don't get to the beach enuf to justify having it. Bummer, because I really love that bike - on and off road.
If you love talking to strangers - 99 percent men - then you would love riding one of these around town! I suspect that if a woman with large breasts wore a bikini top around downtown that she would get similar attention. But put her on a Pugsley TOO! Mens heads would explode form sensory overload!
