My one TA crankset isn't running on anything right now, but I have a couple of Stronglight 49D cranksets on bikes, and both are on fairly short Phil Wood BBs. I've found that spindle length has everything to do with the bike's rear-end construction, particularly if the chainstay is flattened a bit to allow for a narrower spindle. Sorry that's not more helpful.
