I 'm thinking about setting up my 9 speed conversion bike (frame spread to 130mm) with these shifters to keep the cost down, plus I won't have to buy those awfully expensive STI cables.
There is no 9 speed DA incomaptibility with anything else Shimano 9 speed road ,other than that the DA triple FD is configured for the DA tlripe crankset and 30/39/53 rings. There is a label on the 9 speed DA barend shifters that says only compatible with DA RD,but that is BS since all shimano 9 speed RD have the same throw ratio. That bogus label was somewhat correct in Shimanos mind in 97 when 9 speed DA was introduced, but should have been ditched since 98, although it has probably helped Shimano sell alot of unneeded 9 speed DA RD. You need sti cables with the barend shifters unless you mount them on the downtube, and new barend shifters come with them anyway.
