Why don't you go read an excellent article on this in
Bicycling Magazine (it's a past '07 issue). His story is told from crash to recovery. Had he NOT had a helmet on, he would have been killed for sure. He hit the pavement at speeds in excess of 40 mph. That helmet saved his life.
