It is weird how much noise you can get from a skewer, I had a creaking from my back wheel once, it drove me crazy, I tried everything I could think of/find searching BF, and finally gave up. I took it to my lbs. The owner is a friend and client, and he kept talking about something else we had been discussing, all while removing my rear skewer, wiping it off, lightly lubing it and reinstalling it, it took about 45 seconds. He finished what he was telling me, then said, "Oh, it's fixed." Of course I had to try it out to see if he was kidding, but he was right, it was the skewer.
