Yea, with a cx lever you shouldn't need to run it any special way. Just straight off the front brake into the lever. You can actually take off the lever and brake and they stay together in on easy to reinstall package. I took mine off today (road grime had to clean it) and it took about 2 minutes to remove/reinstall.
