Oahu roads are only marginally better than the Big Island. No way I'd have a road bike on the Big Island. I'm not a tri-guy, and there is so much more open country there than here on Oahu. Bikes and road improvements are back in the news again, now that gas is headed toward $4/gallon.

I'm getting too old to think of climbs as "nice". I kinda like the other side of the climb - ya know, the part that feels better after your thighs catch fire. Around Kaneohe, we've got 'em, and I do 'em cause I know I should, but I sure do enjoy the view from the top when I get there.
