Patently wrong. Straight gauge will be heavier in most cases, requires less work and is accordingly cheaper. Butted will be lighter in most cases and a butted frame can be tuned to suit the tastes of the owner. Since when is weight and ride characteristics not reasons to consider when choosing a frame?
